Mark Cooper Associates Branding
Identity for Mark Cooper Associates, Landscape Architects. My chosen concept answered the key requirements of the brief: to clearly show the brand initials, Mark Coopers name and the nature of their work in a fresh and clean way. The identity is extended with the loose falling leaves that float across and onto the back of each piece. Project completed whilst working at PFA Graphics.
honest.
My University major project, an exercise in experimental branding: is it possible to create a large brand that is absolutely ethical? At the heart of being ethical is telling the truth and hence the company name. This idea also informs the branding, which uses text to be flexible and give truthful statements about the company through an editorial logo. The name honest. always finishes these statements, keeping a conversational tone. The brand avoids photography, instead I've used my own hand-drawn illustrations, complete with irregularities as I felt this was more truthful and fresh.

Save Student Book Design
Pitch concept for a book design for students to explain environmental issues and what they can do in day-to-day life. My concept imitates youth music and extreme sport magazines, mixing up different image styles and using a varied typographic system to break up the information and maintain the readers interest. The grid used is designed to be open and loose, making the most of indents and outdents to avoid looking too structured and like a text book.

MTV 25th Birthday Sting
A competition to design a sting to commemorate 25 years of MTV without looking backwards. I decided to take the opposite approach and set the sting 25 years previous at the beginning of MTV (1981) and look forward to 2006. I then built the sting out of stills to give a jerky, low-fi feel in common with early uses of computer technology. The overall tone of the sting is spoof, sending up outdated visions of the future that have failed to materialise. Click the play symbol to watch.

PFA Graphics Website
The fact that we wanted the website to be easily updatable led me to choose the blog format. I came to the conclusion that the most important part of a graphic designers site is the work as it is often on this basis that a company is hired, so I decided to put this right on the front page. The cityscape header is in the Graphics brand colours and uses the logos rings like pulses of communication from a tower. Created whilst at PFA Graphics

Minusequalsplus Magazines
An organisation concerned with taking action on sustainable issues, I co-founded and worked on at University, which ran for two years. The name and logo is a representation of the key principle of balance. We produced two magazines with a circulation of 2000; several campaigns, one of which gained media attention on Adbusters website and the Metro newspaper; and a website with a pictorial navigation inspired by the logo.

Waste Innovation
I created the illustrations and Flash animations for this website to explain the complex concept behind a new system efficient and clean waste disposal. The idea was to make the illustrations simple and symbolic so that with the addition of movement visitors to the site can literally follow the process. This visual approach was also integrated into the navigation menu. Project completed whilst working at PFA Graphics.

Christmas Advent Pad
An alternative to the annual Christmas card for the clients of PFA Consulting. I tried to create something that might actually be used as opposed to being put up on the wall and forgotten about. The idea is an advent desk pad, with a page for every working day in December up to Christmas day and features pre-doodled pages from my illustrations. Each one offers a festive spin on the companys line of work: transport and civil engineering. Project completed whilst working at PFA Graphics.

Third Attic Logo Concepts
An old logo design job for a vinyl shop in Falmouth. I did this just after Uni but only recently rediscovered it and figured it was worth showing somewhere. It didn't go ahead but I really like the simple visual concept that speaks for itself (though I still can't decide which variation I prefer).
